From Pittacus Lore’s Lorien Legacies: The Revenge of Seven.
Ella, the youngest and unofficial tenth member of the Garde (alien protectors of Earth), is in trouble; not only has she been captured by the Mogadorians (alien invaders) and claimed by Setrákus Ra (Mog leader), but she also is unable to escape and return to her friends. The murderous traitor Five is also with Ella, but of his own free will, and this infuriates Ella all the more. Meanwhile, the other members of the Garde are split up across the world; John, Adam (the only Mog friend), and their human allies are hiding out together, while Six, Seven, and Nine are stranded in the Florida swamp where Five betrayed them. Each member of the Garde must face personal obstacles from Adam confronting his father to Six and Nine coming to terms with their roles in Eight’s death to John struggling to lead the group of warriors and saving the world before Setrákus Ra takes over. As things escalate quickly on both sides, FBI Agent Walker and several other agents realize that the Mogs are not who they claim to be and reach out to the Garde for help. It is now up to John, his friends, and a few rebel agents to stop Setrákus Ra before he destroys the Earth.
The fifth book in the series starts off on a high point and uses action and drama to carry that momentum through almost the entire story. The narration bounces between three characters as the story develops which adds to the suspense, but it can be slightly confusing to keep the fonts separate in the heat of the book. As the number of characters/Garde increases, so does the complexity of the story and frequency of the surprising twists. The Revenge of Seven is a thrilling and danger-filled book that doesn’t stop until the very last line.
