From Erin and Ben Napier’s Make Something Good Today.
Beginning with their childhoods and continuing on from there, Erin and Ben share how their lives were molded by their parents, family values, faith, and home towns, both separately and collectively. After meeting and falling in love in college, Erin spent her time finishing up her design degree while Ben would dabble in woodworking while waiting for Erin to finish in the art labs. Then after marriage, the Napiers decided to move to the small town of Laurel, Mississippi just a short distance from where Erin grew up, which provided a slightly-uneven mix between city and rural living in a gorgeous atmosphere of historic beauty. Erin describes how Laurel first offered her the opportunity to work in a design office job that ultimately helped push her towards striking out on her own with a wedding invitation and stationary company which allowed her to flourish creatively and personally because she forced herself to find the positive in each day. Preacher’s son Ben took a job as a youth pastor of a local church, and he was able to develop his renovation and carpentry skills by remodeling both their newlywed downtown loft and current historic craftsman, until he felt called to step out of ministry and into carpentry. Leaning on each other, their family and friends, and their love of the beauty that history brings to a town, Erin and Ben eventually found themselves offered a TV show with HGTV and Home Town was born from a lifelong love of historic preservation and family.
A sweet and deeply personal look into their lives, the Napiers both share narration to tell their story, as individuals and together as a couple. Filled with pictures and stories of their life, Ben and Erin present a down-to-earth view of where they both started and what their life has become. Make Something Good Today is easy read that will appeal to a readers from all walks of life.
