“Most flight regulations do not allow children to fly planes on transatlantic routes.”

From Eoin Colfer’s The Fowl Twins Deny All Charges.

Twins Myles and Beckett Fowl are total opposites with Myles’ genius and no-nonsense attitude in major contrast to Beckett’s physical strength and fun-loving outlook.  However, the twins are each other’s closest friends and confidant, especially after their recent interaction with the the fairy world and the immortality-seeking Lord Teddy that landed them on probation under their pixel almost-friend Lazuli.  While the boys were supposed to return to their normal lives and leave the magic world far behind, Myles has other plans and so he devised a plan for the twins to capture a large fortune with little work.  However, things quickly take a turn towards dangerous when the Fowl jet is targeted by a missile that has an unconscious Lazuli strapped to the back of it.  The twins quickly finds themselves grounded by their parents for destroying the jet, but they quickly forget their punishments when Myles is kidnapped by a group of dwarves under the leadership of the vicious Gveld.  Beckett immediately realizes that his twin has been replaced with some sort of clone, so he and the magically-inhibited Lazuli race off to find the real missing Myles, stop the evil Gveld, and maybe save the world before it’s too late.

Colfer’s second installment of this Artemis Fowl spin-off series is full of action, humor, and surprise.  Fans of both series will be easily engaged, as Myles and Beckett are developed in fresh ways.  The Fowl Twins Deny All Charges is a quick, fun read that is a must-read for fantasy and adventure fans.
