From Veronica Roth’s Divergent: Allegiant.
After new leadership takes over, Tris watches as the members of each of society’s five factions are made equal with the formerly-outcast Factionless. While Tobias’ estranged mother, Evelyn, strives to punish the the factions for their previous treatment of those that did not neatly fit into a faction, Tris is pardoned for her actions and struggles to make sense of this new world that she helped to bring about. Displeased with moves that Evelyn has made since taking control, some in the pro-faction Allegiant rebellion movement begin making plans to remove her from power to replace the current violence with peace. However, when Tris and Tobias learn some surprising facts about themselves, their parents, and the creation of entire faction system, things begin to spiral into a confusing, deadly series of events. In an attempt to stop an attack and bring balance back to their lives, Tobias makes a desperate plea to his mother, while Tris risks everything to expose the past’s secrets to save the future.
The third and final book in the Divergent trilogy is an action-packed adventure from start to finish. Fans of the series will be excited to see the conclusion of the story, but will probably find the twist ending unsatisfactory to such a solid trilogy. With a writing style that differs from the previous two books and many elements that seem to push an agenda, Allegiant is a disappointingly disjointed end to this otherwise captivating dystopian series.
