Most recently, Max has lead the rest of her flock to Africa to deliver food, the opposition they face from rebels is quickly forgotten when Angel, the youngest vision-seeing flock member, tells the flock that she knows Fang, Max’s boyfriend and co-leader, is going to die. However, when Dr. Hans, a former employee of the evil Itex introduces Max to Dylan, a newly created human-hybrid teen, Max is appalled by the scientist’s mutation plans for humanity and she leads the flock back to their American hideout. When Jeb, the flock’s former lead scientist, arrives to visit the flock, he brings along Dylan and asks Max to give the young mutant a chance. After an argument, Max and Fang go off by themselves, and while they’re away from home, when the rest of the flock were attacked by genetically-modified hunters called Erasers. Angry at their leaders for not being around, the flock kicks Max and Fang out, and Angel becomes the new flock leader.
