From C. S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Among the thousands of children evacuation from the danger of 1940 London, the Pevensie children–Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy–find themselves staying with a stranger in the countryside. Their host, Professor Digory Kirke, has kindly opened his home to the Penvesie children, but they find the country home boring until Lucy steps through a wardrobe into a magical world called Narnia. After entering Narnia, Lucy meets a faun named Tumnus, who explains how the wicked White Witch has wrongfully taken control of the land and trapped it in an eternal winter. Tumnus helps Lucy find her way back to the wardrobe, and she instantly tells her siblings about her adventure. Lucy’s siblings don’t believe her, but when Edmund stumbles into Narnia, he meets the White Witch and aligns himself with her. When his siblings realize that Edmund is missing, they all head into Narnia, only to discover that the White Witch’s treachery has only accelerated with Edmund’s unknowing help-turned-captivity. Soon the children learn of a prophecy about how to bring about the end of the White Witch’s reign and bring back the rightful king, Aslan the Lion, however, finding a way to unite against evil will prove the greatest challenge for the Pevensie children.
