From S. J. Kincaid’s Insignia: Catalyst.
After being drafted and trained by Intrasolar Forces to fight for America in the arena-like battles of World War III, Tom has faced a wide variety of challenges, adversaries, and corruption, but nothing could have prepared him for this. When Tom and his fellow IF cadets return to the Pentagonal Spire to continue their training, they are informed that it is under new control and life there will be different moving forward. The heavily-political sponsors are a problem, but when new cadets begin arriving with new brain processors to help supervisors monitor training and cadets pilot spaceships remotely, Tom realizes how dangerous the changes truly are. As Tom and some allies search for a way to save the program from evil, he witnesses more and more attacks in the digital realm, but the mysterious attacker may unintentionally cause more trouble than good. As the danger mounts both in the real world and the digital realm, Tom and the other cadets must decide who they stand with and how far they are willing to go to save the world in which they believe.
The third installment of Kincaid’s young adult sci-fi dystopian trilogy dials up the action and suspense to create a thrilling story. Fans of the series will enjoy watching the characters fight to the finish through the highs and lows of character growth. There are plenty of twists and surprises to keep readers on the edge of their seat through this page-turner adventure. Catalyst is a satisfying conclusion to the series and a must-read for fans of the teen sci-fi genre.
