The accidental matching of Cassia to the outcast Ky instead of to her friend, Xander, opened Cassia’s eyes to how evil the governing Society truly was.  Unable to be free or together with the Society, Cassia and Ky have joined the Rising rebellion to bring freedom to everyone trapped by the Society.   Still living and working in the Society, Xander witnessed the evil control of the Society when Cassia fell in love with and was then separated from Ky, so he has secretly joined the rebellion and begun secretly making sure new Society babies are immune to the memory-erasing red pills that the Society often orders its citizens to take in order to keep control.  As the rebellion rises, so does a terrible virus that places Ky and other citizens in danger, so begins desperately Cassia working with the Rising to find a cure to save the man she loves.  However, the deeper Cassia goes in her search for the cure, the more dark Society secrets that she uncovers, which makes everything more dangerous and complicated than she ever expected.  While the Rising is successful, the old control of the Society threatens to destroy every citizen in the country, so Cassia races to get the virus cure to those who want to free people before everything falls apart.

The third and final book in Condie’s young adult dystopian romance trilogy will have readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.  The action-filled situations are constant and often surprising, but the the genuineness of the three narrating characters creates the book’s driving force.  Reached is a fast-moving story that leaves readers with a sense of satisfaction on how the captivating series came together.
