From Benjamin Renner’s The Big Bad Fox.
All the hapless little fox wants is to be a terrifying menace to the chickens in the farm yard, but unfortunately, he’s not a very scary fox and he is the one that is usually assaulted by the chickens. While the watchdog is tired of dealing with the upset chickens and wimpy fox, the rabbit and pig feel bad for the fox, giving him turnips to take home after each failed visit. However, when the wolf suggests that the fox use his non-threatening status at the farm to steal some eggs to eat once they hatch. The fox is able to steal three eggs from a mean, distracted chicken, but he is less-than-thrilled to learn that the wolf expects him to keep the eggs warm until they hatch. Once the three chicks hatch, the fox is ready to eat the chicks that are not afraid of him because they think he’s their mother, but the wolf tells him that they should wait until they’re bigger, and he leaves the fox to fatten up the chicks. As the chicks grow, the fox tries to prove to them that as a fox he’s a terrifying creature, but soon he finds himself loving the little chicks instead. When the wolf announces that it’s almost time to eat the chicks, the fox will have to decide how far he’s willing to go to keep them safe.
