From Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black’s Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles: The Wyrm King.
After they learned that there were giants waking up all around their new Florida home, step-siblings Nicholas and Laurie found a way to get rid of the fire-causing beasts. Unfortunately, after they’ve forced the giants into the ocean and removed the danger, they’re visited by the Grace siblings and informed that the giants were necessary to keep the number of hydra groups from running wild. The step-siblings try to get the mermaids to bring the giants back to solid land, but the creatures stubbornly refuse, so with no other options, Nicholas and Laurie take Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide and set out to fix their mistake before Florida is destroyed. However, the further they go on their adventure, the more they come to realize that they are fighting against evil forces far greater than they ever could have imagined.
DiTerlizzi and Black again create a captivating Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles story through both words and pictures; the characters are unique and readers are easily able to connect more with the characters. The illustrations are beautiful and help to aid in the development of the story, while the book’s short length makes reading it a breeze. As the final book in this spin-off trilogy, The Wyrm King brings the fun, magical adventure to an impressive close.
