“Oh, my gods, it’s my first night in the Fourth Cohort barracks!”

From Rick Riordan’s Camp Jupiter Classified.

When her father told her that they are both descendants of the Roman god Mercury, Claudia made the journey to Camp Jupiter, the camp for Roman demigod children. Claudia is assigned to the Fourth Cohort and tries to get a grip on her new life at camp, including ghosts, temples, chores, mythical creatures, and life as a centurion. When Claudia visits a temple, she receives a note with the mysterious message of “XII” and then another message to “Find MV.” While Claudia tries to figure out what the messages mean, her chores and classes suffer from some unfortunate blunders around camp. While Claudia is unsuccessful in making friends with a young faun named Elon, she is able to make friends with fellow demigods Janice and Blaise. However, as the strange happenings around camp grow more and more dangerous for the campers, Claudia finds herself under investigation by camp Praetors, Reyna and Frank. When Claudia finally figures out what the mysterious messages mean, the young demigod decides to risk everything to save Camp Jupiter before it’s destroyed in an evil plan.

This novella by Riordan offers a very quick read that takes place between events of the Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo series. Despite the short length, the book still manages to build a solid story that fans will enjoy.
Camp Jupiter Classified provides the perfect little addition to the well-loved characters and world that Riordan is famous for.
