“Hi!”

From Gavin Aung Than’s Super Sidekicks: No Adults Allowed.

Tired of being ignored and unappreciated by Captain Perfect, the superhero counterpart to his sidekick status, Junior Justice decides to create a team filled exclusively with sidekicks. Junior Justice reaches out to the insect-controlling Flygirl and the transforming dinosaur Dinomite, offering them a chance to leave their heroes Rampagin’ Rita and Blast Radius to save the world while being treated with respect. The three young sidekicks are surprised when the evil Dr. Enok’s creation, Goo, shows up at the meeting, but when Goo proves that he does want to be good, they allow him to join the team. When Captain Perfect, Blast Radius, and Rampagin’ Rita arrive to take their sidekicks home to their growing list of chores, the four young supers refuse to go back to their old lives. However, when Dr. Enok attacks to recapture Goo, all the heroes and sidekicks are unable to defeat his evil robot army, and Goo is re-captured by his evil master. While their heroes refuse to believe that Goo really turned good when free from the evil Enok, Junior Justice, Flygirl, and Dinomite know they must work alone to rescue their new friend before it’s too late.

While older readers will enjoy the story’s quick pace and humor, young readers will enjoy taking on this unexpected story about superheroes and friendship. The illustrations are fun and bright, easily drawing the reader into the story, and the action is surprisingly bold for such a small book. No Adults Allowed is a solid first installment in a series that is sure to bring lots of readers enjoyment for many years to come.
