“Hello, friend.”

From James Patterson and Maxine Paetro’s Confessions: The Murder of an Angel.

Tandy Angel’s world is falling apart.  In the past few months alone, her parents have died, her older brother has been charged with murder, her life has been threatened several times, and her older sister has turned out to be alive.  And now Tandy is pretty sure that she might be going crazy; someone seems to be trying to end her life, but the deeper she digs into the mystery of who it could be, the less her discoveries point to anyone other than herself.  She is struggling to answer major questions in all areas of her life, including secrets about family and friends, while fighting to keep control of her family’s company.  It doesn’t help that every step of the way she seems to be plagued by confusing flashbacks and missing memories.  Everything Tandy thought she knew was real comes crashing down and it is up to her to put the pieces back together.

The series finale is full of mystery, deception, and danger for the main character.  Readers are also able to experience a different side of Tandy with a narration style that changes as the character begins to question her sanity.  The romance aspect is less of a driving point than in the previous two books, but the frustration that the romantic tension brought has been replaced with other frustrating elements.  Like many of Patterson’s works, the book provides a very quick, but action-packed read.  And while this book is not quite up to par with the other books, overall it is an enjoyable read that helps bring the crazy life of the Angel family to a agreeable close.
