From Pittacus Lore’s Lorien Legacies: The Fate of Ten.
As the evil Mogadorians (alien invaders) have openly and truly shown themselves to the world, humanity’s only chance for survival rests on the young, mostly-untrained Lorien Garde that escaped to Earth years ago. Led by John (Four), the ragtag group of teens struggles to rally together against the army that the Mog leader (Setrákus Ra) has launched across the planet. Scattered across the globe, the Garde are all facing more difficult choices and challenges, especially Six as she tries to activate a secret Loric force, John as he fights on the front lines in New York City, and Ella as her fate has been manipulatively tied to Setrákus Ra’s life; however, when Sam (John’s human best friend) unexplainably develops Loric powers, the Garde feels that they may just have a chance to win… especially when the learn that Sam isn’t the only human with new powers. The battle to defeat Setrákus Ra will push each member of the Garde father than they ever expected and it will cost them more than they ever wanted to pay.
The sixth book in the Lorien Legacies series is full of action and suspense, but also enough heart to keep the characters engaging, as well. John’s character is the perfect leader and does well because he not only wants to survive, but to also help others survive; Six and Ella’s narration also helps to provide a well-rounded account of the events of the book. This book relies heavily on the previous books in the series, but as it is so far into the series, it works to tie everything in the series together. The Fate of Ten is a must-read for fans of the series and a thoroughly enjoyable read for fans of the sci-fi genre, as well.
