When Hash tries to threaten Noah off the squad, Donovan and his brother-in-law’s dog, Beatrice intervene, shifting Hash’s anger onto Donovan. Ignorant of the seriousness of the situation, Noah decides to confront Hash, and when Donovan goes to stop Noah, he actually ends up saving the Mercury house from being hit by a runaway oil tanker. While the town searches for the heroic superkid’s identity, Donovan is unable to step forward because Hash’s parents’ threats against Beatrice.
